Breakwater Oyster

Portsmouth, RI
Breakwater Oysters are grown in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, in the protected waters of Long Neck Cove, which is fed by the Sakonnet River. The shallow waters and continual filling and flushing of the cove compose an ideal environment for oysters. The cove itself is located in the northeastern most corner of the cove, surrounded by march to the east and west and to the north is a "rip rap" breakwater, giving the oysters their name.

the Grower

Jordan was approved for his lease in February 2021, and while he may be the new kid on his own farm, he’s no stranger to the oyster biz. For the last several years, he’s been managing a neighboring farm that produces one of our favorite oysters, Riptides from Westport, MA. With the tutelage of oyster vet, Kerian Fennelly, Jordan has an arsenal of farming techniques to produce a fantastic oyster.
